Project Description A new high-performance nano-composite chalcogenide material for thermoelectric generators and batteries.

The proposed new thermoelectric material Li0.15Cu1.85S is an alloy, the predominant phase of which is a solid solution based on the superionic modification of copper sulfide. The “melting” of a part of the crystal lattice provides a low lattice thermal conductivity of the material (below 1 W m–1 K–1). Doping with lithium reduces ionic conductivity, which is an undesirable property of a thermoelectric, and increases the stability of the connection, while maintaining the high thermoelectric characteristics of copper sulfide.
